General
Increase fibre in diet up to 25g to 35g - Decreases bleeding by 50%
Increase water intake
Warm water (Sitz) bath 2 to 3 times daily - Decreases pain temporarily
Sitting in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes
This stimulates blood flow to the perineum allowing it to heal
Stool softeners
Coloxyl and Senna tablets
Avoid straining and only try to poo when you have the urge
For itch - Steroid / Anaesthetic cream (Proctosedyl) or Zinc oxide barrier cream (Sudocrem)
For painful external haemorrhoid or anal spasms
Twice daily topical vasodilator cream if painful external haemorrhoid
Glyceryl Trinitrate 0.4% (Rectogesic)
Nifedipine ointment 0.2 to 0.3% (Needs to be compounded)

Baked beans, canned (1 cup) = 10g
Chia seeds x 30g weight = 10g
Almonds x 23 nuts = 3.5g
Pistachios x 49 nuts = 3g

Green peas (boiled x 1 cup) = 9g
Broccoli (boiled x 1 cup) = 5g
Brussels sprouts (boiled x 1 cup) = 4g
Potato with skin x baked (1 medium) = 4g
Sweet corn (1 cup) = 3.5g
Cauliflower raw (1 cup) = 2g,
Carrot raw (1 medium) = 1.5g
Fruits
Raspberries (1 cup) = 8g
Pear (1 medium) = 5.5g
Apple with skin (1 medium) = 4.5g
