Disclaimer
Malady Wise is written by an Australian general practitioner. It offers general health education, medical puzzles and fictional teaching cases.
Not personal medical advice
Nothing on this site, in the newsletter or on our social media is personal medical advice. It can't take your history, examine you or consider your circumstances. Always talk to your own doctor about your health before you make decisions or change treatment.
In an emergency
In Australia, call 000. Elsewhere, call your local emergency number (for example 911 or 999). There’s no single number for every country, but 112 works from a mobile phone in most countries, including Australia, the UK, Europe and much of Asia. Australians can call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 for health advice any time.
Phone numbers and services named on this site are Australian. Outside Australia, use your local emergency, poisons and health advice services.
No doctor–patient relationship
Reading this site, playing the puzzles or contacting us does not create a doctor–patient relationship. We can't answer personal medical questions by email, direct message or comment.
Cases and puzzles are fictional
All cases are invented or heavily altered for teaching. They don't describe real patients. Any resemblance to a real person is coincidence. Puzzles simplify real medicine for learning and fun. The jokes are about your guesses, never about patients or conditions.
Accuracy
We review content carefully, but medicine changes and errors can happen. If you spot one, please tell us at maladywise@gmail.com.
Links to other sites
We link to trusted sources, including official Australian and international health organisations, but we don't control their content.
No sponsorship
Malady Wise doesn't accept payment to recommend products, services or practitioners. If that ever changes, we'll say so clearly.
