Privacy
Malady Wise (maladywise.com) collects as little information as it can, and never sells it.
The short version
- No accounts, no ads.
- Simple, cookie-free visitor counts. No tracking across sites, no personal profiles.
- Your scores, streaks and settings stay in your own browser.
Newsletter (Zebra Mail)
If you subscribe, your email address is stored by our newsletter provider, Buttondown, which may store it outside Australia. We use it only to send the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Your puzzle progress
Your answers, stats, streaks, Einstein badges and settings (like dark mode) are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. They are never sent to us, and we can't see them. Clearing your browser data deletes them. They don't carry across devices.
Our hosting
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like most web hosts, GitHub may log basic technical details, such as your IP address, to keep the service secure. See GitHub's privacy statement.
Visitor counts
We use GoatCounter to count visits, which pages and games are popular, and how often games are finished. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across sites and doesn't build a profile of you. It records things like the page, the referring site, browser, screen size and approximate country. Your IP address isn't stored. If you use an ad blocker, you probably won’t be counted.
The “playing now” and “games played today” counts come from our own small counter. While a page is open it sends an anonymous “still here” signal about every 30 seconds, with a random code that only exists in that tab and is forgotten when you close it, plus one signal when you finish a puzzle. No cookies, no stored identifiers, no personal data, and IP addresses aren’t stored.
Basil + Clover leaderboards: if you post a score, we keep the name you type, your score and round, and a random game code saved in your browser (so a new best replaces your old one). Names are public. Today’s board is deleted after 3 days. Nothing else is linked to you.
In Zebritis, if you tap “Suggest” on a missed answer, that answer and the prompt are sent anonymously so we can review the list. Nothing else is attached.
Zebritis also counts, anonymously, which listed answers get picked, so rarer answers can score more.
Fonts
The pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers. See Google's privacy policy.
Cookies
The site doesn't set cookies.
Sharing results
When you tap "Copy result", the text is copied to your clipboard. Nothing is posted anywhere unless you paste it yourself.
Health information
Please don't send us personal health information. We don't give personal medical advice, so we have no reason to keep it, and we'll delete any we receive.
